Day 1
Welcome to Paro (By International Flight)
Upon landing at Paro International Airport, an India Tours & Travels executive will warmly welcome you, bearing a customized signboard with your name. Following immigration and baggage checks, you will be escorted to your own air-conditioned car for a beautiful trip to your Thimphu hotel (about 1.5 hours drive).
Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, is an exquisitely unique fusion of legacy and innovation set against a backdrop of undulating green hills and clear rivers. Thimphu is unique among the world's capitals in having no traffic lights; instead, friendly police officers manage traffic flow, lending the city a distinctively tranquil and endearing quality. Thimphu provides a kind and welcoming entrée to the cultural richness and leisurely pace of life that characterise Bhutan holidays, with its historic monasteries, dzongs, busy handicraft boutiques, and vivid local markets.

Day 2
Take a stroll around Thimphu
Following a leisurely breakfast, take a full day of sightseeing in Thimphu, starting with a visit to the magnificent Tashichho Dzong, the fortress-monastery housing the throne room and offices of the King of Bhutan as well as the central monastic body. Proceed to Dechen Phodrang, a quiet monastic school located atop a hill that provides expansive views of the valley and an interesting glimpse into the daily lives of young monks.
From here, head to the revered Changangkha Lakhang, one of Thimphu's oldest and most cherished temples, where locals come to seek blessings for their children and family. Later, visit the Simply Bhutan Museum, an interactive living museum that vividly highlights traditional Bhutanese architecture, customs, and rural life in a really interesting manner.
End your day at the peaceful National Memorial Chorten, a profoundly spiritual monument where devout Bhutanese gather all day to stroll clockwise, spin prayer wheels, and say prayers—providing a very personal glimpse into Bhutan's deep-rooted spirituality. Day 3
Drive to Gangtey. A Trip to En Route Druk Wangyal Lakhang Temple
Drive to the stunning Gangtey Valley (around 4 to 5 hours drive) after breakfast. This region is well-known for its vast vistas, fresh mountain air, and intensely calm surroundings. Along the way, make a significant stop to see the Druk Wangyal Lakhang, a contemporary but profoundly symbolic temple erected in honor of Bhutan's fourth king, embellished with elaborate and vibrant murals illustrating Bhutan's rich past and visionary leadership.
Keep your picturesque trip through thick woods, winding mountain roads, and small communities until you reach Gangtey. When you get there, check into your hotel and take a little nap. Visit the revered Gangtey Monastery later in the afternoon, which is the seat of the Pema Lingpa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and offers a deeply tranquil spiritual atmosphere as well as breathtaking views over the Phobjikha Valley below. Day 4
Discover Phobjikha Valley
Take a leisurely Nature Trail Hike today, a calm and tranquil walk through wide meadows, fragrant pine woods, and beautiful rolling hills, and explore the natural splendor of the Phobjikha Valley.
Stop by lovely villages strewn with historic wooden farmhouses as you walk the path, where you may see local Bhutanese residents going about their everyday lives—weaving, farming, and producing butter and cheese using age-old techniques handed down through generations. This provides an infrequent and really honest insight into rural Bhutanese life that is just not available anywhere else in the world.
Continue your trek to the historic Khewang Lakhang, one of the oldest temples in the valley, providing peaceful surroundings and an insightful glimpse into Bhutan's ancient spiritual roots. Return to your hotel following the walk and take pleasure in the rest of the day at leisure, immersing yourself in the immaculate and tranquil atmosphere of this gorgeous Himalayan valley.

Day 5
Journey to Punakha, including a visit to Chhimi Lakhang
Drive to the lovely town of Punakha (about 3 to 4 hours drive) after breakfast; a beautiful path winds through rich valleys, wooded hillsides, and small traditional Bhutanese villages. Along the road, stop at Chhimi Lakhang, often known throughout Bhutan as the Temple of Fertility, for a really meaningful encounter.
This holy monastery, devoted to the legendary Lama Drukpa Kunley—the Divine Madman, whose unconventional teachings and blessings are extensively thought to boost fertility, fight off evil, and bring good fortune, may be reached after a leisurely and picturesque walk across lovely golden rice fields and traditional farmhouses. The trek itself provides breathtaking views of rural life, with farmers working their fields and vibrant prayer flags swaying softly in the mountain air.
Once you have finished your trip, head towards Punakha, which was once Bhutan's capital and remains one of its most stunning and historically important locations. Day 6
Punakha Sightseeing
Start your day with an energising morning walk to Khamsum Yuley Namgyal Chorten, an exquisitely crafted and gorgeously adorned temple created to provide peace, harmony, and safety to the planet. The route takes you through tranquil pine woods and rich terraced rice fields, with breathtaking panoramic vistas of the Punakha Valley and the meandering Mo Chhu River below. Once at the summit, appreciate the temple's magnificent classic design and take in the tranquil and expansive views that make the ascent worthwhile at every level.
Visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong in the afternoon, one of Bhutan's most beautiful and historically significant fortresses, strategically positioned at the dramatic confluence of the Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu rivers. Discover its magnificent courtyards, elaborate woodwork, and holy temples reflecting the height of Bhutanese workmanship.
Next, finish your Punakha experience with a stroll across the famous Pho Chhu Suspension Bridge, one of Bhutan's longest suspension bridges, providing stunning river views below and swaying prayer flags all around, adding a profoundly spiritual and unforgettable appeal to your afternoon. Return to your hotel later and spend the evening unwinding at your leisure.

Day 7
Travel to Paro and sightseeing
Enjoy a beautiful morning drive to Paro (approximately 3 to 4 hours drive) after breakfast, meandering through rich woods, terraced fields, and beautiful traditional villages, with occasional stunning views of snow-capped Himalayan summits as you drop into western Bhutan's serene scenery. Take in the peaceful splendor of river valleys, prayer flag–draped bridges, and hillside monasteries along the way that capture Bhutan's ageless and profoundly spiritual essence.
Once you get to Paro, check into your hotel and give yourself some time to relax before starting your afternoon exploring. Begin with a trip to the National Museum, located inside the historic Ta Dzong, where a rich and fascinating collection of paintings, textiles, ceremonial items, and natural history exhibits offers great insight into Bhutan's energetic past and amazing cultural growth.
Continue to the magnificent Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), one of the best examples of traditional Bhutanese architecture, noted for its massive stone walls, elaborate woodworking, and expansive vistas throughout the valley. Last but not least, end your afternoon tour at the holy Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest and most revered temples, thought to have been constructed in the 7th century by the Tibetan ruler Songtsen Gampo. Day 8
Excursion to Tiger's Nest and visit to a local farmhouse for a traditional hot stone bath
Today provides the most famous and highly awaited event of your entire Bhutan holidays package: a full-day trip to the mythical Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest), Bhutan's most revered pilgrimage destination, dramatically and breathtakingly perched on a mountaintop 900 metres above the Paro Valley.
The walk starts through rich pine woods decorated with vibrant prayer flags, then climbs steadily along switchback paths to sights providing absolutely amazing panoramic views of the monastery and the surrounding mountain environment. Once at the top, explore the holy temple complex, soak in the strong spiritual ambiance all around you, and discover the amazing tales connected with Guru Rinpoche, who is said to have meditated here in the 8th century.
Return to Paro for a much-needed break following your descent. Enjoy a traditional hot stone bath at a local Bhutanese farmhouse in the evening—a wonderfully soothing Bhutanese wellness ritual that uses river stones, heated over an open wood fire and infused with medicinal herbs, to deeply relax your muscles and completely rejuvenate your body and mind after this incredible day of adventure.
