Day 1
Welcome to Paro (By International Flight)
On arrival at Paro International Airport, following immigration and baggage formalities, you will be warmly greeted by an India Tours & Travels representative holding a placard with your name. You will then be assisted to your vehicle for a scenic transfer to your hotel in Thimphu (Approx. 1.5 hrs drive).
Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, is a unique blend of tradition and modernity, set against a backdrop of rolling hills and crystal-clear rivers. Unlike any other capital city, it has no traffic lights—only friendly policemen directing the flow—giving it an unmistakably serene and charming character. With its monasteries, dzongs, handicraft shops, and vibrant local markets, Thimphu offers an inviting introduction to the cultural richness and gentle pace of life that defines Bhutan.

Day 2
Explore Thimphu
After breakfast, enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Thimphu, beginning with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the impressive fortress-monastery that houses the throne room and offices of the King, as well as the central monastic body. Continue to Dechen Phodrang, a peaceful monastic school perched on a hilltop, offering panoramic views of the valley and a glimpse into the daily life of young monks. From here, proceed to the revered Changangkha Lhakhang, one of Thimphu’s oldest temples, where locals come to seek blessings for their children. Later, step into Bhutan’s cultural heritage at the Simply Bhutan Museum, an interactive living museum that showcases traditional Bhutanese architecture, customs, and rural life. Conclude your day at the serene National Memorial Chorten, a spiritual landmark where devotees gather throughout the day to walk clockwise, spin prayer wheels, and offer prayers—an intimate experience of Bhutan’s deep-rooted spirituality. Later, return to your hotel and spend the rest of your day at leisure, relaxing and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere of Thimphu.

Day 3
Travel to Gangtey visiting Druk Wangyal Lhakhang temple en route
Drive to Gangtey (Approx. 04 to 05 hrs. drive), a beautiful valley known for its sweeping landscapes and serene atmosphere, with a stop en route to visit the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, a modern yet deeply symbolic temple built in honour of the Fourth King, adorned with intricate murals depicting Bhutan’s history and visionary leadership. Continue your scenic journey through dense forests, winding mountain roads, and traditional villages until you arrive in Gangtey. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and take a short break. Later in the afternoon,visit the revered Gangtey Monastery, the seat of the Pema Lingpa tradition of Buddhism, offering a peaceful spiritual ambiance and stunning views of the Phobjikha Valley. After your visit, return to the hotel and relax for the evening at leisure.

Explore Phobjikha Valley

Day 5
Travel to Punakha visiting Chhimi Lhakhang
Drive to Punakha (Approx. 03 to 04 hrs. drive), a picturesque journey that winds through lush valleys, forested hillsides, and quaint Bhutanese villages. Along the way, make a meaningful stop at Chhimi Lhakhang, famously known as the Temple of Fertility. A gentle walk-through beautiful rice fields and traditional farmhouses brings you to this revered monastery, dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kunley—the Divine Madman—whose unconventional teachings and blessings are believed to promote fertility, ward off evil, and bring good fortune. The walk itself offers wonderful glimpses of rural life, with farmers tending their fields and prayer flags fluttering in the breeze. After your visit, continue towards Punakha, once the ancient capital of Bhutan. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and take the rest of the day to unwind, enjoying the serene river valleys and warm subtropical climate that make Punakha so inviting.

Day 6
Punakha Sightseeing
Begin your day with a scenic morning hike to Khamsum Yuley Namgyal Chorten, an intricately designed temple built to bring peace and harmony to the world. The trail leads you through terraced rice fields and pine forests, offering stunning views of the Punakha Valley and the winding Mo Chhu River. Once at the top, admire the temple’s exquisite architecture and enjoy the serene panoramic vistas that make the climb truly rewarding. In the afternoon, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful and historically significant fortresses, strategically situated at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu rivers. Day 7
Travel to Paro and sightseeing
Enjoy a scenic morning drive to Paro (Approx. 03 to 04 hrs. drive), winding through lush forests, terraced fields, and traditional hamlets, with occasional glimpses of snow-capped peaks as you descend into the tranquil landscapes of western Bhutan. Along the way, take in the serene beauty of river valleys, prayer flag–draped bridges, and hillside monasteries that reflect the country’s timeless charm. Upon arrival in Paro, check in to your hotel and take a moment to settle in before beginning your afternoon exploration. Start with a visit to the National Museum, housed in the historic Ta Dzong, where a rich collection of paintings, textiles, ritual objects, and natural history exhibits provide insight into Bhutan’s vibrant past and cultural evolution. Continue on to the majestic Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), one of the finest examples of Bhutanese architecture, renowned for its massive stone walls, intricate woodwork, and sweeping views of the valley. Wander through its courtyards and corridors, learning about its role in both monastic life and local governance. Day 8
Excursion to Tiger Nest & visit to a local farmhouse for a traditional hot stone bath
Embark on a full-day excursion to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), Bhutan’s most revered pilgrimage site, dramatically perched on a cliffside 900 meters above the Paro Valley. The hike begins through lush pine forests adorned with colorful prayer flags, gradually ascending to viewpoints that offer breathtaking panoramas of the monastery and the surrounding mountains. As you reach the top, explore the sacred temples, feel the deep spiritual atmosphere, and learn about the legends associated with Guru Rinpoche’s meditation here. After descending, return to Paro, where in the evening you will visit a local farmhouse to enjoy a traditional hot stone bath, a soothing Bhutanese wellness ritual that uses river stones heated in a fire and infused herbs to relax your muscles and rejuvenate your body after the day’s rewarding hike.

Paro Departure (by international flight)
