Welcome to Delhi

On arrival at DELHI Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal 3), following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection, as you exit the arrival terminal building, you will be welcomed by India Tours & Travels executive holding a placard in your name to greet you. After that, you will be assisted with a transfer to your hotel and check-in.
Delhi, India’s capital territory, is also known for its people with happy hearts and dynamic nature. A symbol of the country’s rich past and thriving present, Delhi is a city where ancient and modern blend seamlessly together and stands as one of the fastest developing cities in the world. The thriving cosmopolitan metro has a long history of empire successions from Delhi Sultanate to Mughals to British and still is the political capital of the nation.

Day 2

Explore the sites of Old & New Delhi

After breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour at Old & New Delhi. Begin with Old Delhi which still has the influence of the Mughals with monuments, mosques, and forts all through the complicated streets. Take a drive past Red Fort and reach Jama Masjid, the country’s largest mosque with fine architectural extravagance. From here, we will take through the small lanes of the Chandni Chowk market by cycle rickshaws which have there been for more than three centuries. This ride will be most captivating as you get a first-hand view of the merchants, the little food and artefact stalls and the swarming population, busy in their daily activities. End your old Delhi sightseeing with a stop at the world-famous 200-year-old Attar shop (Closed on Sunday). For people who are not aware of what Attar is a non- alcoholic perfume, directly squeezed from herbs, fruits, flowers and spices. One can choose Rose, Sandal, Musk, Amber, Lavender, Lotus and lots of other fragrances. In the afternoon, continue with New Delhi sightseeing starting with Bangla Sahib Gurdwara, dedicated to the 8th Sikh guru Sri Harkishen Sahib, which is the most prominent Sikh shrine in New Delhi. On entering the premises, you can hear the magical chants and bhajan which relaxes the mind and the body. Make a visit to the pond (Sarovar), the main central hall and the famous community kitchen which prepares food for 40,000 needy people every day. Then drive past the official buildings of New Delhi like the War Memorial Arch (India Gate), Parliament House, the official residence of the President of India and the Prime Minister’s house. Conclude your sightseeing with a visit to Qutub Minar, with five storeys and projecting balconies, the 73-meter-high tower is one of the most important landmarks of Delhi and a world heritage site. Return to hotel and spend rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3

Travel to Agra and exploration

This day, we travel to Agra (Approx. 04 to 05 hrs. drive), the city is home to the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel and relax for some time. Later visit the grand Agra Fort, originally constructed as a military construction, the semi-circular fort is full of underground structures and mazes. The eminent peacock throne and Koh-i-Nur diamond were once housed in the fort’s Diwan-e-Khas. As the day draws closer, head to Mehtab Bagh for a mesmerising sunset view (sunset visit is subject to weather conditions) of the Taj Mahal from the back side Located across the Yamuna River, this tranquil garden offers a stunning, unobstructed view of the monument as it glows in soft golden and pink hues under the setting sun. The serene atmosphere of Mehtab Bagh provides the perfect setting for quiet reflection or capturing beautiful photographs. Before returning to your hotel and spending the rest of the day at leisure, stop at a local sweet shop to taste local sweet Petha. The city of Agra is synonymous with the Taj and its sweet petha. A North- Indian candy, made of white pumpkin, is in the form of a translucent candy.

Day 4

Visit the Taj Mahal and continue your travel to Jaipur

Early morning proceeds for a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal one of the seven wonders of the World (closed on Friday), an architectural marvel built over a span of seventeen years is the epitome of Mughal architecture. The remarkable specimen showcasing bilateral symmetry is decorated masterfully with fantastic inlay work. Artists from different parts of India, Central Asia and Iran were involved in the making and execution of this one-of-a-kind tomb, raised in the memory of Mumtaz Mahal, Shah Jahan’s wife. Witnessing the sunrise with this picturesque background adds to the splendour of the monument (a Sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal would be subject to the weather conditions). Return to the hotel for breakfast and travel to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Known as the Pink City due to its pink-coloured buildings, Jaipur is a vibrant blend of tradition and modernity. Continue your journey to the City Palace, an impressive architectural marvel built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II between 1729 and 1732. This vast complex is divided into various courtyards, buildings, and gardens, including Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal. Don't forget to visit the museum within the palace premises, where you can learn more about Jaipur's royal heritage. Today, we'll embark on a journey to the picturesque village of Jojawar, a hidden gem located amidst the striking Rocky Mountains, scrub woodlands, and verdant greenery. With the magnificent Aravalli hills forming a breathtaking backdrop, this rural suburb serves as a perfect escape from the chaos of the city. Upon arrival, we'll check in at a beautifully renovated boutique hotel that exudes an old-world charm and offers a comfortable stay amidst the rustic surroundings. We'll have the afternoon to ourselves to explore the area and bask in the serenity of this idyllic retreat. Later in the day, before dusk, we'll take a leisurely stroll through the town to acquaint ourselves with the land and its people. Day 9

Experience a rural train ride and travel to the city of Lakes, Udaipur

After breakfast at the hotel, travel to the station in the resplendent vintage Chevy to enjoy the train safari (subject to operation), a unique opportunity to share a train ride with the Rabaris (nomadic pastoralists) and natives. The colourful attire of the Rabari women and the white turbans of the males tell us a tale of the life of nomads and herders. Cherish the scenic beauty of the small farmlands and sandy areas. The train passes by the Kambli Ghat Pass and one can spot the indigenous camel herds there. The green and gold of the natural vegetation, scrubs and crops is a sight to behold. As the sunlight falls upon this sparsely populated and serene landscape, you are sure to have a wonderful time out there! While returning, stop at a tiny forest rest house for a break where tea and cucumber will be served. Later after a quick freshen-up, check-out and travel to Udaipur. This morning you discover the sights of Fort Kochi with your English-speaking guide, starting from the Jewish Synagogue (Closed on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Jewish holidays), the oldest operational synagogue in Kochi and the Nations of the Commonwealth. The synagogue contains four buildings and boasts rare antiquities such as exquisite chandeliers, a clock tower, a brass-plated pulpit, Chinese hand-painted tiles, and so on. Mattancherry Palace, also renowned as the Dutch Palace, represents one of the greatest instances of Kerala-styled architecture mixed with colonial influences. This two-story mansion boasts a magnificent mural collection. St. Francis Church, a centuries-old church in Fort Kochi, was initially built entirely of wood and then rebuilt in natural stone. Vasco Da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, was buried here in 1524 until his belongings were transported to Lisbon, Portugal. In the late afternoon, wander along the beach to see the famous and picturesque Chinese fishing nets, one of Kerala's most important cultural symbols, which are operated by four to six fishermen, witnessing this stunning operation is a riveting experience in and of itself. Evening, enjoy a Kathakali Dance Performance, a 2000-year-old Kerala native classical dance form with intricately coloured make-up, costumes, and face masks. It is a "story play" type of art based on stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata epics.

Day 13

Travel to Alleppey and board the Houseboat

After breakfast, check-out and travel to Alleppey (Approx. 02 hrs. drive), originally known as Alappuzha, is a picture-perfect destination famed for its gorgeous backwaters and palm-fringed interconnected maze of canal backwaters that draw people from all over the globe. On arrival, you will board your private houseboat, which has been transformed into a Kettuvallam or traditional rice barge, and travel through Kerala's gorgeous backwaters. Lay back and unwind while seeing the amazing scenery of stunning coconut-fringed seas, rice fields, and lovely views of man-made islands. Day 14

Disembark the houseboat and travel to Kumarakom

After a delightful breakfast onboard your houseboat, disembark and travel to Kumarakom (Approx. 01 hr. drive), a beautiful destination known for its thriving mangrove swamps, lush paddy fields, hills, rubber plantations, and towering coconut trees. Located in the Kottayam region of Kerala, Kumarakom is renowned for its scenic backwater tracts and has been recognized by National Geographic as one of the top places in the world to visit. On arrival in Kumarakom, take a peaceful village walk that takes you through the scenic backwater villages, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the locals. As you stroll through lush paddy fields, traditional coir-making units, and rustic homes, you’ll witness the rich cultural and agricultural heritage of the region. Interact with friendly villagers, observe their craftsmanship, and learn about the time-honoured farming practices.
