Day 1
Welcome to Colombo (By International Flight)
On arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection, as you exit the arrival terminal building, you will be welcomed by India Tours & Travels executive holding a placard in your name to greet you. Thereafter you will be assisted with a transfer to your hotel and check-in.
Colombo, the bustling commercial capital of Sri Lanka, is a fascinating mix of the West and the East. Offering ever-more stylish eateries with great local food of your choice, convivial cafes, street markets, shopping malls and a lively nightlife, this cosmopolitan hub on the West Coast is an excellent starting point for your Sri Lankan adventure.

Day 2
Explore Colombo
After breakfast, embark on a city tour of Colombo. Start at the Colombo National Museum, the largest in Sri Lanka, showcasing fascinating artefacts such as the throne and crown of the last monarch, and the bloodstained blouse of a captured queen. Don't miss the man-eater of Punani at the National Museum of Natural History. Navigate through the bustling Pettah market, and drive past the Colombo Municipal Council, inspired by Washington D.C.'s Capitol Building. See the old Parliament Building, now the Presidential Secretariat, and stroll along the Galle Face Green Promenade. Visit the monument marking the imprisonment of the last monarch and Independence Square. Explore the vibrant Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple and the picturesque ‘Seema Malaka’ on Beira Lake. Nearby, admire the colourful Hindu Kovil on Slave Island. Spend the afternoon at leisure, either relaxing at your hotel or exploring the city on your own. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a speciality restaurant in Colombo.

Day 3
Travel to Sigiriya visiting Anuradhapura enroute
This morning, check out and leave for Sigiriya visiting Anuradhapura en route, the city where the documented history of the Island began 2500 years ago. Anuradhapura, which was founded in the 05th century BC, is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the splendid ruins of the old city: explore the stunning gigantic 03 stupas of Ruwanweliseya, Jetavanarama and Abhayagiri - the architectural marvels regarded second in size only to the Great Pyramid of Giza in the ancient world. Among the other notable sites of interest are ‘Sri Maha Bodhi’ - the sacred Ficus is known to be the world’s historically documented oldest tree, remnants of Brazen Palace the nine-storey Buddhist monastery and the serene Samadhi Buddha statue. Later continue your drive to Sigiriya (Approx. 04 to 05 hrs. drive), the most visited tourist destination in Sri Lanka famous for its Rock Fortress. Upon arrival check at the hotel and spend the rest of your afternoon at leisure.

Day 4
Excursion to Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Hiriwadunna Village
Start your day by climbing up Sigiriya Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Sri Lanka's most visited tourist destination. Enter the rock fortress through the massive lion paws, and ascend the Lion Staircase towards the rock palace. Midway up, marvel at the famous frescoes of Sigiriya damsels, among the world's oldest paintings, and see the mirror wall, home to the earliest known graffiti. Enjoy a stunning 360° view of the surrounding landscape from the summit. Later, stroll through the rural village of Hiriwadunna, experiencing traditional local life. Enjoy a ferry ride on Hiriwadunna Lake and visit a village house for a traditional lunch. Return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying amenities such as the swimming pool, in-house bar, spa, etc.

Day 5
Excursion to Polonnaruwa Kingdom and Minneriya National Park
After breakfast this morning, embark on an excursion to the ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa, the capital of medieval Sri Lanka from the 11th to the 14th centuries AD and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During its brief but illustrious period, the Polonnaruwa Kingdom was home to several great monarchs who left behind remarkable legacies. Explore the awe-inspiring Gal Vihara, featuring four colossal statues intricately carved from a single rock. Admire the elaborately carved Moonstone, the majestic Lankathilaka image house, and the impressive statue believed to be of King Parakramabahu, along with many other historical treasures. In the afternoon, proceed to Minneriya National Park for an exhilarating jeep safari. This park is renowned for its diverse ecosystem, primarily consisting of low-canopy forests and expansive grasslands that encircle the historic man-made Minneriya Reservoir. As you traverse the park's rugged terrain, keep an eye out for the spectacular wildlife, including the famous gatherings of elephants, which are among the largest in Asia. The reservoir attracts numerous bird species, making it a haven for bird watchers. Your expert guide will help you spot other resident animals such as deer, leopards, and various primates. Enjoy the raw, natural beauty of Minneriya as you immerse yourself in this unforgettable safari experience.

Day 6
Travel to Kandy visiting Dambulla en route
After breakfast, check out and embark on a scenic drive to Kandy (Approx. 03 hrs. drive), with a stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Golden Cave Temple of Dambulla. Ascend the steps to the ancient 2000-year-old cave temple, carved into a massive rock formation. Inside, marvel at the vibrant mural paintings that cover every inch of the walls and ceilings, each telling captivating stories. Witness the mysterious bowl that collects water droplets from the cave roof, never drying up, even during droughts, a marvel for the past two millennia. Continue your journey to Kandy, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Sri Lanka's second-largest city. Known for being the last stronghold of the Sri Lankan kings before falling to the British in 1815, Kandy is steeped in rich history and culture. On the way, enjoy an informative visit to a spice garden in Matale. Discover how various spices and tropical herbs, many of which you may recognize from your own kitchen, are cultivated and processed, gaining a deeper appreciation for these essential ingredients. Upon arrival check at the hotel and spend the rest of your afternoon at leisure.

Day 7
Kandy Sightseeing
After breakfast visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, located on the banks of Mahaweli River just a few miles off Kandy city. Several dignitaries including the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, Emperor Nikolai II the last Tsar of Russia and Queen Elizabeth II have planted trees to mark their visits here. One of the key highlights of the gardens is the exquisite and rare orchid collection. Later on, embark on a city tour of Kandy. Visit the famous vista point up at the upper-lake drive from where you will catch a panoramic view of Kandy city. Drive around the man-made Kandy Lake. Visit the Bahirawakanda Buddhist Temple and the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which houses Sri Lanka’s most revered Buddhist relic – a tooth of the Lord Buddha. The city boasts enough historical sites and landmarks to keep you occupied for days. Now it rises through the ranks as an excellent shopping destination worth exploring in between your delightful sightseeing too. The gem museum exhibits the entire process from mining to cutting and polishing stones. A couple of hours are at your disposal to browse through fabulous gift stores, wooden handicrafts, silk, batik and gem stores before we proceed to the cultural show, which begins at 17:00 hrs.

Day 8
Take a scenic train ride to Nuwara Eliya
After an early breakfast check out and hop aboard a scenic train to Nuwara Eliya - enjoy the spectacular views of endless lush tea fields, waterfalls, reservoirs and several tunnels. The train leaves Kandy station by 0810 hrs. (Approx) and reaches Nanu Oya, which is the closest station to Nuwara Eliya, by 1200 noon (Approx), where your transport will pick you up again. On the way to your hotel, you will visit a tea factory to witness the process of making world-famous Ceylon Tea. Later explore the marketplace, the Golf course which is known to be one of the best 18-hole courses in South Asia and drive around man-made Gregory Lake. Later transfer to the hotel for a quick fresh and change to experience the high tea in the colonial Grand Hotel. This high tea was a tradition from the era when Sir Edward Barnes, the British Governor of Ceylon in 1824 – 1831, built this mansion.

Day 9
Travel to Yala National Park via Ella en route
Today, after breakfast, check out and travel to Yala (Approx. 04 to 05 hrs. drive). On the way visit Ella for a delightful visit to the famous nine-arch railway bridge of Demodara. The iconic bridge was built almost a century ago during the British Era. Today it is still in use and offers great photo-shoot opportunities. Continue to Yala, a rural town renowned for the National Park. En route, we shall pull over to enjoy the amazing views of Ravana Falls that cascades by the roadside in Ella. Upon arrival in Yala, check-in at your hotel and spend rest of the evening at leisure enjoying the hotel amenities.

Day 10
Enjoy the jeep safaris
Rise early for an exhilarating morning safari in Yala National Park. Renowned for its diverse wildlife, Yala is home to the highest density of leopards in the world, although sightings require a bit of luck. As you navigate through the park's varied landscapes, you'll commonly encounter spotted deer, wild boar, wild buffalo, mugger crocodiles, macaques, and elephants. Occasionally, you might even catch a glimpse of the elusive sloth bear or leopard. After your morning adventure, return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast. Today, you’re on a full board plan, so all your meals are taken care of. Spend the midday hours at your leisure, relaxing and enjoying the hotel amenities. In the afternoon, set out for another jeep safari in Yala National Park. With its rich biodiversity, the park offers a new experience every time you visit. The afternoon light creates excellent conditions for photography, so keep your camera ready to capture the beauty and wildlife of Yala. After an exciting day of wildlife exploration, return to your hotel to relax and unwind.

Day 11
Travel Bentota/Beruwala visiting Galle on the way
After breakfast check out and leave Bentota/Beruwala (Approx. 04 to 05 hrs. drive) visiting Galle en route. The capital of the southern province. Explore the Dutch Fort in Galle (UNESCO World Heritage Site). At the site of the present Fort, back in 1588, the Portuguese colonizers built a modest fort using palm trees and mud. Among the historic landmarks are the Dutch Reformed Church with its 300-year-old belfry, the National Maritime Museum which was initially a warehouse where spices and ship equipment were stored over 400 years back, the 200-year-old Clock Tower, the 1939 Lighthouse as well as the reputedly oldest breadfruit tree in the island. Continue your travel to Bentota/Beruwala. On the way, we shall visit the Mask Museum in Ambalangoda, a coastal town known for antiques and masks. Masks were used for several purposes in ancient Sri Lanka. They were featured in traditional dances, dramas and comedies, in large pageants and processions, as well as in ceremonies to exorcise demons or cure illnesses. Upon arrival in Bentota/Beruwala, check-in at your resort and spend rest of the day leisure.

Day 12
At leisure in Bentota/Beruwala
These two days are completely free for you to unwind and rejuvenate at your own pace. Wake up to the sound of the ocean and start your morning with a leisurely breakfast at the resort. You may choose to relax by the beach, soak up the sun by the pool, or take gentle walks along the golden shores. For those seeking activity, optional experiences such as water sports, yoga sessions, cycling, or spa therapies (on direct payment) can be arranged to add a touch of adventure or wellness to your stay. In the evenings, enjoy the breathtaking coastal sunsets, followed by freshly prepared local and international cuisine at your resort These days are designed to give you ample time to simply relax, reflect, and embrace the serene beauty of the coast.
